So, you’ve listed your home…now it’s time to show it to potential buyers! Now, we need to do our best to make your home look the part of their new dream home. How can we do that? Here are a few tips and tricks to get your home “show-ready” for all of the showings that will be coming your way.
Have a Garage Sale.
~Ask yourself: Is this something I use regularly? Do I have multiples of this? Would I buy this if I saw it in a store? Is this something I love? Am I keeping this out of obligation? Is this item worth cleaning/storing it? Is this item worth the space used to store it?
~Store items you’re keeping in non-see through containers in the attic, shed or garage. Donate any items that don’t sell in the garage sale.
Remove clutter and depersonalize.
~We want buyers to be able to picture themselves in your home. To do that, we need to remove some of the personalization that your home most likely already has. try to remove as many personal photos as possible, including photos of pets. Remove clutter from all counters and the refrigerator. Neutralize your home – take down anything that could be offensive to potential buyers. Hide any laundry and on-going projects you may have. Light a candle or wax burner to remove cooking smells from your home.
Deep Clean Your Home.
~Buyers will be all over your home, let’s get it as clean as we can! Clean your carpets, baseboards, windows, cabinets and walls. Don’t forget the outside of your house too, curb appeal is huge! Make sure your landscaping is attractive and the exterior of your home is clean and appealing to buyers. Fix any repairs you may have been putting off. Keep your home clean during the showing period, you never know when someone will request to see your home. Make it a habit to pick up after yourself and your family and putting things away when you’re done with them.

On the day of showing appointments, it’s important to run through your home and make sure things are put away and rooms are clean. Give the carpets a quick run-over with your vacuum and the floors a sweep and mop them if you have the time.
